Songs to the Soil is a concert to raise awareness on the dangers of climate change to our communities. But Songs to the Soil is not a collection of feel-good singalongs that cloud and deflect from the work that we, as humans, need to do. Instead, Songs to the Soil is a musical call to action, from both established local Connecticut artists and music students.
To engage these students and the community, we are partnering with local environmental experts so that kids can ask questions and learn directly from those working to ensure environmental safety and sustainability in their own backyard. Each music student performing in Songs to the Soil will be paired with one of these experts so that they can interview them about their work. These interviews will be posted on the Student Projects page on the website.
Additionally, we will be featuring some great Connecticut musicians from a wide variety of genres performing originals and classic songs that focus on the earth, sustainability, and our connection to the world around us. We hope you will join us on September 25th, 4pm, at First Church – 190 Court Street in Middletown.

Songs to the Soil is made possible by the generous support of the CT Office of the Arts through the Artists Responds Grant.
